Novels and novellas

Collective edition of longer prose by one of the most important Czech authors of the last twenty years.

Jan Balabán's works have always teetered on the border between the short story and the novel. The characters in his short story collections returned and the situations they found themselves in formed larger and more complicated stories. Conversely, the plot of the novels unfolded into episodes, each of which seemed to have a life of its own.

The second volume of Balabán's work presents him in this "novel" position and includes the books God's Rope, The Black Ram, Where the Angel Went and the last novel Ask Your Father, which won the Magnesia Litera - Book of the Year award in spring 2011. As in the case of the previous volume of short stories, we can thus follow the author's creative development and the finding of a unique, this time novel form.
