Olympic - 4 (CD)

The basic album set of recordings was released in 1974, so it is something to commemorate on an annual basis. It was a turbulent period, when rock mixed with pop and musicians took turns as bassist. Alongside Ladislav Chvalkovsky, it was Jiří Korn, coming from the stellar The Rebels, but simultaneously launching an independent mainstream career. His vocal contribution, whether solo or in multiple voices, was absolutely unmistakable, as was the contribution of songs from the pen of drummer Petr Hejduk.

What you will find on the album

Petr Janda and Miroslav Berka remained from the original line-up alone, colleagues in the band, and also the music around them changed: Olympic was taking a new breath and looking for a way forward. From the songs you will definitely remember the dramatic Abduction, but the period is also illustrated by other stylistically diverse songs, often adorned with great vocals. All this is placed in a cover with perfect illustrations by Kája Saudek, including one originally unused. As usual, all researchers will receive a rich addition to the CD in the form of nine studio and concert bonuses, with the fates detailed in a photo-decorated booklet. From a historical perspective, "Four" may not be one of Olympic's absolute top albums, but as a continuation of the evolution and regrouping of forces before the big bang of the arrival of permanent bassist Milan Broum, it's a must for fans and a point of interest for everyone else.
