Olympic: Prázdniny na Zemi...? - CD
The first of a trilogy of conceptual Olympic albums.
At the time, the ecological lyrics (by Zdeněk Rytíř) were slightly provocative in our country, while the progressive rock music (by Petr Janda) was on par with international standards. The album didn't generate a clear hit, but this makes it all the more musically cohesive and an more intense listening experience.
Olympic, with the line-up of P. Janda, M. Berka, M. Broum, and P. Hejduk. Unmistakable guitar work and vocals, with a keyboard style leaning towards synthesisers, an occasionally slightly Pink Floyd-esque mood, but always completely original.
Known as Prázdniny na Zemi (Holidays on Earth), but the ellipsis and question mark at the end of the title have their logic. It might not have been a pleasant trip, perhaps not even to Earth, but it certainly provided reasons to reflect on our treatment of the planet. From a historical perspective, this is Olympic's most cohesive fusion of music and lyrics, less 'single-oriented' and powerful in its message.
The CD version is expanded to almost 80 minutes with ten live and studio recordings, including previously unreleased tracks.
The sound has been remastered from the original tapes, including the original track transitions and the abrupt ending. The cover art has been reconstructed from the fortunately recovered original slides by A. Pajer.
