About the author:

Alena Isabella Grimmichová has been creating since early childhood. She learned the basics of working with textiles – sewing and embroidery – from her grandmothers. Her work grew out of a fascination with colour and patterns, which is why she has focused primarily on working with fabric and textiles. Her creative work now mainly involves various textile techniques. She is interested in their different combinations and in merging new and old methods of processing fabrics. This interest has not only influenced her own work but has also been incorporated into several books focusing on various fabric processing techniques originating from Japan or Africa. From 1992 to 2005, she ran her own Gallery No. 9 in Prague's Malá Strana. Since 1993, she has exhibited her work in the Czech Republic, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Austria. She collaborates with many magazines dedicated to handicrafts.
