Ornis: 1978-1981 - CD

The mid-1970s marked a certain revival in musical Brno. The first to draw attention was the amateur jazz-rock band Ch. A. S. A., whose participation and success at the Prague Jazz Days could not be overlooked. When the band temporarily broke up, the composing guitarist Jiri Adam and the first truly free Czech vocalist Mirka Krivankova got together with the more experienced guitarist Milan Kašuba, and in 1976 the line-up was stabilized with a fourth musician, violinist Jan Beranek. They called themselves Ornis, after the name of the legendary Brno jazz club, and played at festivals and clubs all over the country. However, they also recorded at least the most interesting of their growing repertoire in the radio studio. In June 1981, the swan song of the original formation became Josef Blaha's "obligatory" composition Ornis, after which Adam and Beranek were left alone and, supplemented by bassist Oldrich Svoboda, they worked for the next three years with guest singer Jana Koubková. The complete set of this radio production is released together on one disc for the first time.
