Paediatric nephrology
The updated version of the monograph Children's Nephrology provides readers with an overview of acute and chronic kidney diseases in children and adolescents, from definition through diagnosis, including differential diagnosis, to treatment and prognosis. The book also includes the latest recommendations for the care of children with arterial hypertension. It contains a number of clear tables, graphs and illustrations that facilitate the reader's orientation in the book and improve its use in clinical practice in the care of children and adolescents with kidney and urinary tract diseases.
Pediatric Nephrology contains clear and educational chapters on all areas of pediatric nephrology. The introductory chapters deal with the physiology, development and functions of the kidneys, further examination of glomerular and tubular functions, congenital and hereditary nephropathies, tubulopathies and glomerulopathies, as well as acute and chronic renal failure.
Both main authors are long-time chairmen of the Section of Paediatric Nephrology of the Czech Paediatric Society, very experienced practical paediatric nephrologists and authors of many monographs and scientific publications in paediatric nephrology.
The book was co-authored by 36 co-authors from various departments across the Czech Republic and abroad.
The monograph is intended primarily for paediatricians working in inpatient paediatric wards of hospitals/faculty clinics and paediatric nephrology outpatient clinics, as well as general practitioners for children and adolescents in primary care and paediatric surgeons, urologists, radiologists, geneticists and psychologists. Especially in complicated cases with a chronic course, close collaboration between paediatric practitioners and hospital paediatricians-specialists in paediatric nephrology is essential.
The monograph is also a basic source of knowledge for paediatricians seeking postgraduate training in paediatric nephrology. But it also targets doctors caring for adults.
