Patagonia - DVD
Inhospitable, windy, cold, rainy and overcast, Southern Patagonia is a magnificent piece of our blue planet, spanning the territories of Chile and Argentina. Torres del Paine, Mt. Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre are breathtaking mountain massifs of the Andes ridge, which stretches along the entire American continent. The Los Glaciares National Park is also home to the largest continental glacier, the Hielo Patagónico Sur.
This film describes two different journeys. The first, lasting about a week, takes you into the heart of and around the Paine rock formation and to the Ventisquero Grey glacier in Chile. The second journey explores the Argentinian region of Cerro Torre and Monte Fitz Roy. It also maps out the complicated access routes to both national parks via Punta Arenas–a city guarding the Strait of Magellan–Puerto Natales, and the Argentinian towns of El Calafate and El Chaltén. Today, Southern Patagonia is becoming a new challenge and a land of open opportunities for both trekking and technical mountaineering.
