Pavel Molek: Swedish Peace Prize
A chamber drama to commemorate the anniversary of Comenius' death and the events of White Mountain. With Viktor Preiss, František Němec and Klara Sucha. It is an early September morning in 1646. Europe is waking up to another day of protracted and exhausting war. The conflict, borne of religious intransigence between Catholics and Protestants, has become a monstrous, complicated game for political domination of the continent. The bishop of the Unity of the Brethren, teacher and exile Jan Amos Komenský arrives at the Royal Palace in the morning in Stockholm to give an account of his work in the Swedish service to the Imperial Chancellor Count Axel Oxenstierna and especially to Queen Christina of Sweden. The author Pavel Molek places the three protagonists of his chamber play in difficult and changing relationships and together with them poses questions that are not only connected with key moments in our history, but also have their weight and urgency today. The struggle over what price it is possible and right to pay for peace is played by Kristýna Klára Suchá, Jan Amos Komenský played by Viktor Preiss and František Němec as Count Oxenstiern.
