Peasant Reason - DVD

Nearly three years of gathering material in the Czech countryside – exploring the topics that concern farmers and local entrepreneurs, how and why subsidies work, why some crops are grown more than others, why livestock farming has declined in recent years, and the impact this has on food production – led the creators to focus on the role of Andrej Babiš, the style and consequences of his business ventures, and subsequently his political activities, which have become one of the most defining factors for the Czech landscape, the business environment, and likely soon for the entire country.

The film also draws on the long-term work of several journalists in this field, and some of its scenes directly follow Zuzana Vlasatá and Jakub Patočka, authors of the recently published book "Žlutý baron" (The Yellow Baron), during their investigative work. One of the main protagonists of the film is the Moravian farmer Bohumír Rada, who helped initiate Andrej Babiš into the agricultural business before their paths diverged dramatically.

Featured in the film are: Bohumír Rada (farmer), Zuzana Vlasatá & Jakub Patočka (journalists from Deník Referendum, authors of the book The Yellow Baron), Taňa Králová (journalist and agriculture expert), František Tomášek (farmer and co-author of the Land Act), Jan Rambousek (expert on critical financial and tax situations), Josef Středula (chairman of the trade union confederation), Jana Moravcová (former regional director of the Environmental Inspectorate), Jan Boček (former director and co-owner of Kostelecké uzeniny), and others.
