A radio dramatisation of the famous historical novel Pharaoh, which gives a true picture of ancient Egypt.
Ramses is the young heir to the Egyptian throne, a bit of a hothead, a keen warrior. He has a vision of the throne before him, he wants to sit on it after his father, he wants to rule well. Only that, he must face as the new ruler of Egypt, is a messy tangle of relationships and connections, machinations and corruption, the gears of power, that relentlessly crushes the common people and favours its "higher interests". Ramses tries to learn about reality from all sides, but all his initially noble interests begin to melt like spring snow.
