Pilsen Murders
The Case of the Pilsen Murders is the opening story of the Royal Chamber Chronicles book series
It takes place in the middle of the 16th century, during the reign of Ferdinand I. Habsburg. The story is set in the city of Pilsen. While investigating several mysterious murders, the royal scribe from Prague - Jiří Adam of Dobronín - meets for the first time his assistant, the bachelor Petr Korc. Thanks to his help, he manages to get out of a very tricky situation unscathed, and together they uncover intrigues against the king.
The story is set in an attractive Renaissance town with a splendid town hall in the market square and winding streets inhabited by wealthy townspeople as well as poor craftsmen, journeymen, shenanigans and hampheisers. However, the strange character of the strange hermit and romantic love also have an important place in the story. And as it cannot be otherwise in Vlastimil Vondruška's novels, the denouement is truly surprising.
