Planet of the idiots

The apocalypse arrived with a wide smile, baring its teeth at us. It wasn't some Hollywood cosmic blast, no asteroid or supervolcano. It was subtle and insidious, and humanity didn't even notice.
I'll never forget that woman on the tube.
She was the first, and her voice rang out like a bell.
Later, others joined her.
Hundreds of thousands. Millions.
And eventually, billions.
I was there for it. From the timid beginning to the bitter end.

And this is a record of what I saw and what I lived through – my personal chronicle of the end of the world.
