A dark novel about power, passion and moral abysses

The novel very vividly – in the murders and sex scenes, even in an urgent figurative way – describes the complex personality of a successful politician and his dark inner world.
The setting of the story is the illegal business of the Life Believers, which has three underground levels. The first is a luxurious bar where the Friends of the Dark Side of the Bible gives lectures, the second is a brothel for the most demanding clientele, and the third is the most important: The chamber of life where ritual murders take place. At these levels, the main characters consciously or unconsciously open up deep ethical questions of human existence.
A number of interesting characters alternate in shorter chapters, including a group of workers who lighten and entertain with their well-meaning, stupid straightforwardness. The story is as brutal and vulgar as the time in which it was written.
