Psychopathology
The third edition of this successful, widely used publication offers a concise overview of the now increasingly relevant field of psychopathology. In an accessible and readable way, it provides basic information on a wide range of mental disorders to anyone who picks up the book to fulfill study obligations, for the needs of their profession, or just out of interest.
This modern, clear and richly illustrated publication is based on clinical practice and teaching within the university and is therefore a compendium of the field. Since the previous edition, new scientific knowledge and new circumstances have emerged, including changes in legislation and the adoption of an update to the International Classification of Diseases ICD-10. The entire text of the book has therefore been revised, supplemented and clarified.
The third edition adds the topic of brain development from the embryonic period and the biological-developmental aspect in the context of the emergence of psychiatric disorders, an outline of their differential diagnosis and a summary of the basic procedures of pharmacotherapy of selected mental diseases. The chapter on acute conditions has been significantly expanded.
Knowledge of the basics of psychopathology is an indispensable prerequisite for work in all helping professions, i.e. for psychologists, social workers, health professionals, educators and others, as well as for the study of relevant disciplines. However, it may also be of use to members of the general public.
