Red Fox
The petty thief Loth is currently sitting in prison and couldn't care less about politics. That is, until a group of idiots literally breaks into his cell, claiming they've come to rescue the lost prince of Aguillon, even though all they know about him is that he's supposedly a redhead. Coincidentally, Loth fits the description, but so does his grumpy cellmate, and so, of course, they both immediately declare themselves the prince—what wouldn't one do for freedom…?
So, not only is Loth on the worst-planned escape ever, but he also has to share a horse and a blanket with that scruffy guy from prison while trying to pretend he's a nobleman, stomach some seriously appalling “noble” meals, and dodge both bandits and swamp monsters.
Moreover, Loth gradually discovers there's more to his cellmate, What's-His-Name, than meets the eye. Beneath all the grime and cheek, he's actually not so bad. One might even say he's attractive. So much so that Loth begins to suspect that some feelings might be starting to blossom inside him. Not that he has any idea what to do with them. And not that the horde of people trying to kill them have the decency to give him time to think it over.
Well, at least they have a dragon.
