Rolling Stones: Some Girls - LP

Reissue of the famous album.

“Some Girls“ is the album The Rolling Stones released in 1978. It is considered by critics to be the best they have recorded since the release of Exile on Main Street. Some Girls is also the band' s most successful album in the United States, selling about 6 million copies.

Although the Rolling Stones remained a very popular band in the mid-1970s, their recordings suffered from Jagger' s fascination with fame and Richards' deepening drug addiction. In 1978, when they were pushed out of the front pages by punk and disco, they came up with the album Some Girls, which was a strong response to the taste of the young generation. It starts with the disco-blues recorder “Miss You“ and the rest of the album is full of energy that the band has not heard from at least since Exile on Main St. The way the Rolling Stones adopted disco from modern styles, they never accepted it as their punk, for which their rock sound was roughened.

The album features both desolate gay fantasies in the song “When the Whip Comes Down“ and a bizarre to misogynistic title song, Richards' confession of the outlaw “Before They Make Me Run“ or a decadent conclusion provided by the song “Shattered“. Meanwhile, Temptations' song “Just My Imagination“ changes unrecognizably, the band unleashes a devastating parody of the country “Far Away Eyes“ or contributes one of their best ballads “Beast of Burden“. This album may lack the street aggression of Stoun' s albums from the 60' s or the drugged gloom of their records from the early 70' s, but it has the hallmark of ironic, decadent hard-rock, which makes it an exceptional record.
