Despite its melodrama and a certain schematic nature of the film's conception of the novel, the so-called. The Red Library has become a hugely popular film, also thanks to the cast. Hana Vítová starred as the poor modiste Elena, who is pregnant and forced to marry her fiancé's brother after his sudden death, while the brothers were played by Jiří Dohnal and R. A. Dvorsky. Their mother, the rich landowner Kristen, is played brilliantly by Marta Májová. After the film was released, Maryna Radoměrská herself had a dispute with the film company, which allegedly spontaneously changed the script, disregarded her comments and damaged the author.
