A Woman at the Crossroads
After successful adaptations of magazine novels, Zita Kabátová becomes the main heroine of the only title that has been transferred to cinema screens from the original Red Library book series. While The Light of His Eyes and Marriage on Credit were Star novels, The Woman at the Crossroads was first published in Pražanka before being bound in the iconic red binding. Thus Zita Kabátová's career continued, lined with figures of bold women whom even adversity could not turn away from their ideals. Alongside Kabátová in this melodrama appeared famous actors from the Prague National Theatre - Eduard Kohout as her philandering husband and Zdeněk Štěpánek as her new hope.
Andula won
Pavel Haken, a rich bachelor, tries to escape from the ingratiating ladies with the help of his servant. They meet at the ladies club and are going to a tent camp on Mrs. Haken's property for the summer. Poor Andula helps out in the camp kitchen. Pavel's wooing of Andula causes a stir among the girls and Andula is provoked into a bet that she will not win Pavel. To everyone's surprise, a loving relationship develops between them, culminating in a wedding. Their happy life comes to an end when the girls inform Haken of the bet out of revenge.
