Something terrible happens in every house now and then...
The Evil Year of 1966. The newlyweds Woodhouse rented an apartment in a swanky apartment building on New York's Seventh Avenue, conceived their first child, and miraculously landed the father-to-be a lucrative acting role. Rosemary's head is spinning from the stress, but fortunately, Mr. and Mrs. Castevet live next door, who will dispel her pregnancy blues, get her a better gynecologist, and supply her with a pain-relieving drink. You could say "nice neighbours" - but those two are getting more and more pushy.
Accident follows accident, accident follows accident, and the expectant mother's distress that something unfair is happening around her grows alarmingly stronger. Rosemary knows she has to keep her eyes peeled and her ears pricked, but what's going on here? That remains to be seen in the house of horror lore that has thrilled a host of the author's predecessors.
Based on the mystery thriller, Roman Polanski made a film of the same name (1968) with Mia Farrow. In 2014, his compatriot Agnieszka Holland adapted the novel for HBO.
