Simon Paul: Graceland CLR

LP Record Released in 1986, "Graceland" is the seventh studio album from singer-songwriter PAUL SIMON. In 1984, after a period of depression, SIMON was captivated by a bootleg cassette of music from a small South African town. He and Roy Halee planned a trip to Johannesburg, where he spent two weeks recording with South African musicians. The album features an eclectic mix of genres, including pop, rock, a cappella, zydeco, isicathamiya, and mbaqanga. Inspired by these recordings, SIMON composed new songs, collaborating with both African and American musicians. "Graceland" was a commercial success, becoming SIMON's bestselling studio album. It won the Grammy Award for "Album of the Year" in 1987 and has sold over 16 million copies worldwide.
