Simone Nina: Pastel Blues

LP Record Perceiving the blues as a feeling rather than a form, Nina Simone finds the intersection between the sacred and the secular on Pastel Blues, her fourth Philips album. Simone draws on a rich palette of moods and emotions, covering a wide range of songs: Classics like "Trouble in Mind" and "Nobody Knows You When You're Down and Out", a piano and vocal version of "Strange Fruit", and the redemptive "Sinnerman", presented as a soaring, gospel-infused vocal performance.
