Škwor: Closed Circle - CD

Škwor: Closed Circle - CD
This is the eighth studio opus and presents Škwor as a star of the genre and one of the top names in the Czech rock elite. The album was once again created in their home studio, produced by Leo Holan, who is also responsible for the final sound of the 13 new tracks. Uzavřenej kruh is harder and more driving this time than the previous studio album, Hledání IDentity, but it still features the band's traditional ballads with an acoustic sound. Over two decades of its existence, Škwor has developed its own sound, which is now its trademark, along with the lyrics by the band's frontman, Petr Hrdlička.
These are direct, understandable, and thematically based on what is happening around us, from generally perceived social issues to the most intimate human relationships. When writing songs, the band isn't bound by anything; they don't have a specific agreement or a unified concept. The songs simply emerge from the current atmosphere and mood.
What the band traditionally honours, however, is melody, and Škwor doesn't compromise on that with this new album. The almost stadium-sounding Omyly a pády, the single Za tmavejch nocí, and the songs Starej voják and Pokřivenej pohled, which were released by the band before the album came out, all seem destined to become future hits.
With the new record, Škwor has several significant events lined up in the coming months, culminating in a birthday concert on 9 November 2018 at the O2 Arena. Before that, however, the group will embark on its biggest Czech tour to date in the spring of next year to present the new album as part of the Uzavřenej kruh Tour 2018.
