Soft Cell: Singles - Keychains & Snowstorms (2018) - CD

Soft Cell is a British synthpop duo that was especially popular in the early 1980s. It became famous thanks to the cover version of the song “Tainted Love“ from 1964. The band consists of Marc Almond and David Ball.

The band was formed in 1978. They first recorded the EP Mutant Moments, thanks to David Ball' s mother, who lent them £ 2,000 to produce the record. However, they later became famous for their album with erotic subtexts Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret from 1981, in which songs such as the one-wonder hit “Tainted Love“ or the controversial “Sex Dwarf“ are featured.

In 2002, the band came to life and recorded the album “Cruelty Without Beauty“. In 2008, OUT magazine added the album “Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret“ to its list of “100 greatest gay albums“.
