Spanish Bourbons
For the first time, the Czech reader has the opportunity to take a closer look at the extremely interesting history of one of the most powerful ruling dynasties in Europe, which ruled France, several Italian states and, since 1700, also Spain, where it has ruled with short interruptions to this day. The author proceeds chronologically, beginning his account with the accession of Philip V. to the Spanish royal throne at a time when France was ruled by the powerful and admired Louis IV, Philip's grandfather and his best advisor. And he concludes the book with a chapter on the current monarch, Juan Carlos I, who was proclaimed king ten days after the death of the dictator Franco and who introduced democratic reforms in Spain, until then in political isolation, and helped the country to flourish economically and culturally. The book is illustrated with black and white reproductions of contemporary paintings and photographs.
