Supraphon has joined in the celebrations by releasing another in the series of famous, well-known, and popular songs with which their creators, Jiří Suchý and Jiří Šlitr, have written themselves into the cultural history of this country. In chronological order, we begin in 1958 with the song The Superstitious Butcher from the play If a Thousand Clarinets. This is followed by songs from the Semafor classics Blues for You, School-Age Child, Little Kitten, Blues for the Final Journey, Vulture and Golden Oriole, Little Sun, White Mouse, Amphora, Famous Defence, Warm Underwear, They Nailed My Shadow to the Gate, We Love Animals, The Fool and the Child, and She Lisped. Also featured is the song He Who Wants to Beat a Dog Will Always Find a Stick, previously banned by censors, as well as a song on the theme of the artistic style Surrealist Landscape, a melody from Šlitr's estate posthumously given lyrics by Suchý for the finale of The Government Inspector in the Music Hall titled The Theatre is Closing, and the end of the first half of the buffo-opera A Well-Paid Walk called Hallelujah. The bonus track is the famous ditty Such is Life, better known as A Rat Met a Rat.
