How to deal with the past and forget?
For almost ten years, František Smolík has been separated from his family by the barbed wire of a prison. While in Skláře, Jarmila has to cope on her own with taking care of her family, constantly persecuted by the communists, František is slowly losing hope that he will ever see them again. But times are changing and the atmosphere in society is starting to relax. Political prisoners are gradually being released and returning to their homes. But returning to life is full of pitfalls and old grievances cannot be easily forgotten. The impressive narrative takes us to the foothill village of Skláře for the last time with our heroes.

I was born on 27 September 1987 in Ústí nad Labem. I also spent the first years of my life there and later I returned to my grandparents' house in Ústí nad Labem - Skorotice for weekends and holidays whenever I could. I had a wonderful childhood here. Later we moved to Chomutov, another fateful city for my life. His literary debut, Cottages (2020), received a huge response from readers and became a bestseller upon publication. In 2021, his social novel Nebe na Perninkem was published, and in 2022, the first part of the novel trilogy Sudeten House was published.
