Taliesyn: Cheers! - CD

Taliesyn recorded the 14 songs for the album Zvesela! in 14 days at Studio V in Zlín. The band continues to successfully avoid sticking to a single style. While three songs still return to their island folk roots with the ballads "Black Is The Colour" and "Lord Franklin", and the catchy tune "The Cobbler", they have also included a 5/4 blues track, "I Just Can't Keep From Crying", and the seafaring lament "Sally Free and Easy". There is also the epic saga with a baroque interlude, "Sentimentality", the playful ditty

"Výčepní", whose lyrics inspired the album's title, Zvesela!, the dark "Dead Travel Fast", two echoes of Czech folklore, "Bosé tělo" and "Viselec", and the slightly risqué Latin-inspired "Husy". The album concludes with the song "Café", the only one drawn from real life and thus poignantly moving. The band's biggest influence was the somewhat forgotten British group, The Pentangle. However, over the years, Taliesyn has significantly shifted towards a distinctive folk-rock fusion, combining influences from folk music, blues, jazz, and rock. Jan Bičovský – vocals, bouzouki, harmonica; Vojtěch Jindra – acoustic guitar; Robert Fischmann – transverse flute, low whistle, high whistle, vocals, percussion; Filip Benešovský – bass guitar, vocals; Jiří Neužil – keyboards; Radim Chrobok – drums.
