Tame Impala: Currents (2x LP) - LP

Tame Impala, a psychedelic-rock project by musician Kevin Parker from Perth, Australia, is coming up with the successor to the respected album “Lonerism“ from 2012.

Psychedelia master Kevin Parker is going to score with his project Tame Impala among his fans with the third studio studio Currents. It has been 3 years since the release of the previous album Lonerism, which contained the single Feels Like We Only Go Backwards or Elephant. But last year (2014) Kevin pleasantly surprised us with his collaboration with Mark Ronson on three songs from the Uptown Special studio. We had no idea that we were already working on one of the most anticipated albums of this year (2015), which should be released on July 17, 2015.

Although Kevin has set out a really psychedelic journey with his first two albums, he is not afraid of change. He proved this to us at the end of March 2015, when the 7-minute electronic-psychedelic-dance single Let it Happen was introduced. “I wouldn' t say my focus is on psychedelic music. Tame Impala is about music that has an impact on people, “says Kevin.

The first single from the album Currents was an example of just that. “Let it Happen is about finding ourselves in this world of chaos. But it' s not easy because there are so many things going on that you don' t want to be a part of. Eventually, however, you will find that it is easier to follow the phrase ' let it happen'. Making music is a very spiritual matter. I' m not a spiritual person, but music is sacred to me and through experimentation I prove that I like diverse music “. The single Let it Happen thus became the first track on the album and danced each of us. Jamie xx even used it in his DJ set.

Everyone was waiting for Kevin to take us on his journey to his interpretation of electronic music with his album. But not! Kevin came as the reborn Michael Jackson and about a week after Let it Happen came the song Cause I' m a Man. Many people compare this song to his cover of Stranger in Moscow by Michael Jackson, which has a similar atmosphere. In this way, Kevin confirms that the album ranges between several genres and feelings. We hear Kevin' s lyrics better than ever before. For a moment, Kevin caused a stir with them, as he was accused of a sexist text: “Cause I' m A Man is an intimate song about how we men have no control over each other. In an interview, Kevin recalled that he really enjoys it when he did not reveal the meaning of his songs in detail and listened to the interpretations of different people. We can probably expect this from the album Currents, where Tame Impala treats experimentation more than ever before, but it will only happen in a small and indirect way.
