Tatra 813

The only comprehensive publication on the development, production and individual versions of the Tatra 813 is compiled mainly from archival documents of the Military Central Archive/Military Historical Archive Prague. The introduction introduces the reader to the means used to haul artillery and very heavy loads after World War II.

The main part of the book contains information about the development of the Tatra 813 tractor, about the production of prototypes and their tests, as well as about the construction of semi-trailers required by the army. In the most comprehensive chapter, divided into several sections, you will find tactical-technical data of individual vehicle applications, which are supplemented by drawings and photographs of various parts of the vehicle.

The basic type of Tatra 813 8 × tractor is described in the most detailed way; 8 (Colossus), from which the whole unified series is based. For other versions, including civil, mainly design changes are mentioned. The appendices contain not only descriptions of the tractor trailer equipment and the use of the T 930 series engines in the individual vehicles, but also colour photographs of the T 813 and its successor, the T 815.
