The Archbishop's death

Private investigator Stanislav Berka, once a captain in the Brno Crime Squad, meets a classmate and friend on a boat sailing on the Brno Dam, an archaeologist, Professor Cerny, called Charyfuk.

Čáryfuk is leading excavations of the Great Moravian settlement in the Old Town. When one of the brigadiers, Cyril Haluzik, disappears, Čáryfuk feels that something has also disappeared from the grave on which he and Čáryfuk were working. Since Haluzík was known in the Old Town as an occasional ochmelka, and the professor is not at all sure if some historical artifact really disappeared with the brigadier, he will not be able to get through to the police.

So he asks his friend Berka for help. He believes it's a routine search for a missing antique. He and his girlfriend Lucie go to the Old Town with the idea of taking a working holiday while solving a not very complicated case. However, on the first day of his search, Berka is forced to correct this idea...
