The campaign to Italy
In early 1331, John of Luxembourg summoned his son Charles to Italy to help him govern the vast Luxembourg domain in Lombardy and the surrounding areas. A small military detachment, including the knight Blahota and the canon Kryštof, also sets out for Italy to assist Prince Charles. However, no one in Bohemia has any idea of the situation prevailing in Italy. The first warning comes in the very first days of their Italian stay, when many members of Charles's court are poisoned, and Charles himself miraculously escapes death. Blahota and Kryštof are thus given the opportunity to prove their unwavering loyalty, combined with courage and brilliant judgement.
