We urgently need a transport system to help lift and move the disabled person from a wheelchair to a bed or exercise couch to prevent health complications (especially pressure ulcers) of paralyzed adults and children within the Healthy Sitting Laboratory project. We will use the transport system to measure the pressure map, which determines the degree of load on the seating areas. The client needs to be lifted from the wheelchair and moved to the sensor pad. Manual transfer is less gentle and not feasible in the long run.

The problem of pressure ulcers in paralyzed people
Pressure ulcers are a serious health complication that can occur throughout life. Wheelchair users endanger their lives and exclude them from active life for a long time. Wheelchair users are mainly sores, ie open wounds caused by poor seating in a wheelchair or the use of an unsuitable seat.

Healthy sitting laboratory
It is a project of the Czech Association of Paraplegics - CZEPA, which is sponsored by Zdeňka Faltýnková, a long-term physiotherapist and occupational therapist. For more than fifteen years, we have been helping clients sit properly, choose the right wheelchair and seat, and thus prevent pressure ulcers and other health complications caused by life in a wheelchair. The main tool is a sensor device that measures the pressure distribution under the seating areas.
They said about the project
“A properly chosen wheelchair together with an anti - decubitus seat is a crucial moment in the life of every new wheelchair user. The professional advice of the CZEPA Healthy Sitting Laboratory is used by many clients, especially in the matter of correcting the patient' s seat and evaluating the anti-decubitus effects of the selected seat by means of an instrument pressure map. Some patients are after pressure ulcer plastic surgery and their movements must be very gentle. For this, the ceiling system is a necessary technical aid. "
