The Green Horse Thieves - DVD

Pavel (Marek Adamczyk), a skilled geology student, and Kačmar (Pavel Liška), an unemployed farmer, make a living as illegal prospectors of moldavite, a green semi-precious stone from South Bohemia. Pavel does it to avoid depending on his wife, Karolína (Jenovéfa Boková), while Kačmar does it to support his family. This existence on the edge of the law gives them money, freedom, and independence, but it also demands hard physical labour, constant vigilance against the police, and an upended lifestyle. They toil, take risks, run, and face danger. Prospecting for moldavite can be a matter of life and death. Karolína isn't happy about it. She wants Pavel to stop and return to a normal life. However, it turns out that Karolína has other reasons, reasons that seemed long buried in the past – a past that has resurfaced along with the moldavite.
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Jiří Hájíček.
