The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

A masterful sci-fi parody that has now achieved cult status

The first part of the "five-part cult hitchhiker's trilogy", which the author originally conceived as a radio play for the BBC. This masterful sci-fi parody is now a classic. The complex and original story begins with the destruction of the Earth, which must make way for a new galactic motorway.
The story's protagonist, an ordinary but likeable Earthling named Arthur Dent, is lucky enough to hitch a ride on a spaceship with the help of his friend Ford Prefect, a supposedly unemployed actor who turns out to be an alien. This allows him to escape the catastrophe.
