The king knows no brother

Jakub Protiva of Protivec, a former New Town snitch, was awarded for saving King Wenceslas IV. from captivity to a new royal office. At the same time, the king's cousin, the Moravian margrave Jošt, approaches him and offers him help in uncovering the crimes of the king's favourite, Zikmund Huler. James finds himself in a double fire. "Whatever you do, you will end up on the scaffold," his friend the monk Blasius warns him. How will Jakub fare in the dark backstage of power, in a world of dangerous intrigue and double-crossing? Will he be able to convict Huler, or will he be convicted of abusing his temporary power?
