This house is like Twin Peaks - nothing is as it seems
The trail in the case of a missing six-year-old girl who went missing at a lake has long since gone cold and police have set it up as a "memorial". But her sister Dee Walters is not about to give up. She was left all alone in the world, as the terrible loss devastated her parents so much that they divorced and her father died. So Dee returns to the place where she and little Lulu were last together and is determined to confront the man she believes is behind the kidnapping. The villain Ted Bannerman, however, lives with his daughter and a black cat in a strange house where the ghosts of an unpleasant past can be literally sliced up. A decade ago, the newspapers already identified him as a suspect, and although he was never convicted, they were right about something: he doesn't hesitate to kill. And yet not everything is as it seems. What terrible secret is bubbling under the roof of a seemingly ordinary little house at the end of Needless Street?
This disturbing psychological thriller about the will to survive despite suffering has won numerous genre awards. The collection of prizes will be crowned by the British Fantasy Award for Best Horror Book of 2022.
