In this book, a seasoned nonfiction author focuses on the riveting, shattering, and many dramatic contradictions surrounding the collapse of Nazi power in the final months of the war. In a colourful mosaic populated by many characters, events on the fronts and behind the scenes, on the political and diplomatic scene and in the long-hidden shadows of secret terrorist organisations whose members were unwilling to accept defeat, alternate in rapid succession.

The end of the war affected everything and everyone in our territory and elsewhere. The Czech and Moravian space then acquired historical significance and countless interests intertwined here, the essence of which is not easy to see objectively even from a distance. Part of the author's emphasis is placed on the little-known behind-the-scenes events by which those who had already lost almost everything tried to prevent this defeat, or at least to postpone it a little bit, by often bizarre actions. These are all pebbles in the picture of that time, seventy-five years away from us, which can be marked in any way but with the sign of black and white.
