The Marienbad Notebook
Genre-diverse and composed, the opus Notebook from Marienbad consists of poems, diary entries and various other texts that Vladimír Binar did not have the opportunity to publish at the time of their creation, such as translations, reports, essays, lectures, records of Tahitian myths, etc. The work also includes a selection of letters he received. The reader holds in their hands a book that was created over almost half a century, from the late 1960s to 2016. It intertwines history, contemporary context, the political situation, family and love life, the genesis of poems and books, work methods, livelihood, relationships with people, building a house, verses, translations, and travel. Despite the apparent fragmentation, the texts create a cohesive whole, showing how life and work are interconnected.
