The Rolling Stones: Emotional Rescue

LP Record Fresh from the reinvigoration of "Some Girls", the Stones rocked straight to the top of the UK and US charts in 1980 with "Emotional Rescue". Their 21st studio album knocked Roxy Music and Billy Joel off the number one spot respectively. For the first time since 1973's "Goats Head Soup", they were back on top in the two biggest music markets. In retrospect, however, "Emotional Rescue" stands not only chronologically between the Stones' albums "Some Girls" and "Tattoo You", but also in their shadow. After the big surprises of its predecessor, some Stones fans were quite relieved by ten new songs that followed the familiar Stones' formula.
