The Stein Sisters: Only the Child is Afraid - CD
Sisters Karolina Kamberská and Lucie Steinhauserová decided to produce this album themselves, inviting only individuals they connected with on a personal level to collaborate. This included violinist Karolina Vančurová, drummer and percussionist David Landštof, and bassist Pavel Hloušek. Jan Amos took care of the occasional electronic elements. Vladimír Papež was behind the sound engineer's window, tearing his hair out, while Alexej Charvát meticulously handled the mixing. The CD cover is the work of Tereza Říčanová and Petr Šmalec.
The album opens with the song 'Myši' (Mice), in which songwriter Karolina celebrates the morning antics of the animal kingdom in the kitchen of her country house. At the end of the album, you'll find an electronic version of the title track 'Jen děcko se bojí' (Only a Child is Afraid), arranged by Jan Amos. Between these two extremes, you'll find songs typical of the Sestry Steinovy, but also a few unexpected pieces. For example, the punk track 'Svatební' (Wedding Song) is intended as a serious warning to young men against a hasty lifelong commitment. Or 'Sibiřská' (Siberian) – the only song that painter Tereza Říčanová has written in her life so far.
