The Wedding Party
The last plan of a bride without a groom
It's a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, and Phoebe Stone arrives at the luxurious Cornwall Inn in a silk green dress and gold pumps, without a single piece of luggage and all alone. Although she seems like one of the many guests who have arrived at the venue for the grand wedding, she is the only one in the hotel who has a different plan. Phoebe had long dreamed of this, she's staying at the hotel with her husband, they'll eat oysters, sailing and sitting in the hot tub overlooking the ocean, but now she's here without him, completely broke and determined to indulge in the last beautiful moments of her life. Meanwhile, the bride, the rich and spoiled Lila, has thought of every detail to make sure that everything goes smoothly at the wedding. But she hadn't counted on Phoebe and her plan. The novel The Married Men, combining absurdist humour with a penetrating look into the depths of the human soul, tells of winding roads, that life takes, and random encounters, capable of changing the course of many a human destiny.
