When Detective Inspector Adam Fawley’s team starts investigating a sexual harassment allegation at the University of Oxford, everyone thinks they know what it will be about. They soon discover, however, that they are very wrong.
Because this time, the accused is a woman – a successful academic at the top of her field – and the victim is a handsome, well-built rugby player. But as the investigation progresses, inconsistencies start appearing in both their stories, and it seems that neither has a clean slate.
What’s more, the whole affair starts blowing up on social media, so DI Fawley has to race against time in his search for the truth. He doesn't know, however, that he should be watching those closest to him most of all. The shadows of his family’s past are beginning to catch up with them – and somewhere in the distance, someone is patiently waiting for the opportunity to get rid of Fawley once and for all…
