
The withering rose
The collection The Withering Rose by internationally renowned Kenyan poet Christopher Okemwa deals with a person' s last things, drawing on the funeral rituals and folklore of the Abagusii tribe in Kenya. The poem cycle A Withering Rose by Christopher Okemwa was prepared by the author especially for the Czech edition. Four examples from this series previously appeared in magazines in Kenya. Some of these samples have been translated into Armenian and Polish. The translation into Czech by Libor Martinek was made from the English original with the linguistic cooperation of Simona Martinková.
