Thibaut Garcia: Aranjuez - CD

Although guitarist Thibaut Garcia is French, his ancestors come from Spain, and this cultural and musical duality runs through his latest album, simply titled “Aranjuez”.

Naturally, the record opens with one of the most famous pieces for guitar, “Concierto De Aranjuez” by Spanish composer Joaquín Rodrigo. This is followed by four solo pieces by Regino Sáinz de la Maza, the very guitarist who premiered Rodrigo's concerto in 1940. Another composer featured on the album is Alexandre Tansman, a French composer of Polish origin who wrote many of his compositions for the great Spanish guitarist Andrés Segovia. These include “Musique de cour” from 1960, which, with its neo-baroque style, successfully evokes the atmosphere of the court of the French King Louis XIV, where another musical personality on this recording, the composer and multi-instrumentalist Robert de Visée, was also active.
