It's the 1950s and post-war London is ruled by the famous designer Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville). Members of the royal family, movie stars, wealthy heiresses, women of the noble and the non-noble, all desire a dress from the fashion house Woodcock. Many women pass through Woodcock's life until he meets a young and determined girl, Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon becomes his support, muse and lover. Suddenly his life has firm rules that are responsible for the greatest curse of all - love. And so begins a gothic romance full of twists, surprises and power struggles that offers "sheer pleasure" and is "devilishly funny and incredibly sensual"
