Porta 50: Songs with a gift for not rusting!

Porta is an extraordinary phenomenon on the Czech music scene. From what was originally a rather local fan initiative in Northern Bohemia, it quickly became a nationwide affair, bringing together tramping, country and western, folk, and eventually, stylistically completely liberated music. The gradually developed organisational system, with regional preliminary rounds and an annual final, offered an opportunity to hundreds of bands, with the best or most interesting getting the chance to perform in front of thousands of spectators at the main Porta festival.

This selection of fifty songs was prepared by Mirek Černý, who has many years of “Porta” experience. From the opening song Vlajka vzhůru letí, through Rosa na kolejích, to the final No to se ví, it is a parade of famous songs by famous artists.

Logically, the selection highlights renowned names like AG Flek, Brontosauři, Cop, Wabi Daněk, Greenhorns, Hoboes, Hop Trop, Kamelot, Kapitán Kid, Nerez, Poutníci, Rangers, Roháči, Spirituál kvintet, Taxmeni or Žalman a spol., to list them alphabetically.
At the same time, this two-disc compilation contains recordings from other important bands that fundamentally complete the overall picture of Porta over the years, such as Bobři, Karabina, Lokálka, Máci, Příboj, Stopa or Volupsie.

A thoughtfully curated set of recordings from 1967 to 2015, newly remastered, with a commemorative text and photographs of the performers in the booklet.
