Various: Prayer for Zuzana Navarová - CD

It is a specific CD, conceived as a captivating personal confession.

On the one hand, it radiates reflection on the meaning and full fulfillment of human life, evoked by the memory of the prematurely deceased singer Zuzana Navarová, whose personal bravery and artistic obsession bordering on Jiří Hlaváč' s self-sacrifice inspired this multi-genre project.

On the other hand, before us he spreads a wide range of mutually contrasting compositional directions and various instrumental combinations with the predominant role of the clarinet, spiced with a magical repertoire discovery in the form of the Hindemith band Ludus minor for clarinet and cello.

A sequence of individual musical numbers, which are connected by short connecting texts based on the ideas of Saint Exupéry and the Bible and interpreted by Alfred Strejček' s deliciously plastic vocal timbre, as if evoking a spiritual ceremony progressing from meditation to life-giving sparkle.

After Hlaváč' s “Prayer for Zuzana Navarová“ for voice and instruments, the real voice of Zuzana Navarová is heard, in the poetically fragile song “Prayer“. It was as if it crowned the previous song as a captivatingly calmed coda - only those who would not listen to this CD in its entirety could feel that they got lost here from another world. Hlaváč' s final jazz delicacies “Drawbridge“ and “Ride of the Kings II“ take us into the most famous era of the Baroque Jazz Quintet.
