The quirky Inspector Bronstein is once again investigating two crimes at once
The Vienna Crimes series is the best-selling book title in our Austrian neighbours. The individual volumes are set in important periods of Austrian history, and what readers appreciate most about it is the accuracy and atmosphere of the period in which the author sets his fictional crimes. After the stories from 1913 and 1918, we move to 1927 in the third sequel.
The peculiar Inspector Bronstein is once again investigating two crimes at once. The murder of the shopkeeper Guschlbauer, whose shop is suspiciously frequented by young and beautiful saleswomen. At the same time, it follows the threads leading from the acquittal of previously convicted double murderers to the burning of the Vienna Palace of Justice. In addition, he struggles with his bachelorhood when the once fanatical communist Jelka reappears in his life after many years.
