Vlasta Burian A Life for Laughs

Vlasta Burian A Life for Laughs
The book by film historian, publicist, screenwriter and teacher Pavel Taussig about the theatre and film star of the First Republic focuses not only on the period of Vlasta Burian's peak fame, but also on his cruel fall from the heights after 1945, when the disgraced and reviled former king of comedians worked as an auxiliary force at the Krkonoše lodge. Pavel Taussig is working with a number of letters written by witnesses not only of this post-war rejection. The quoted letters and memoirs also provide new insights into Vlasta Burian's behaviour and activities during the occupation. In the audiobook, the letters are read by Václav Jílek and Vladana Brouková, while Radúz Mácha guides us through the life of the hero of the stage, the film screen, and finally the convict. In the bonus part of the recording we have the opportunity to listen to 46 performances, songs and sketches by Vlasta Burian as they were preserved on gramophone records from 1923 to 1957.
Uniquely, we have the opportunity to experience for ourselves the volcanic vigour of a 1930s comedian and compare it with the broken, betrayed artist of the 1950s.
