A man known as the Tramp narrowly escapes the gallows, despite killing his opponent in self-defence. A stranger's horse, branded with the mark of death, brings him to a ranch where two women live. In return for temporary shelter, he offers to help them with their cattle. However, when his pursuers are joined by a Pinkerton detective and a hired killer, the Tramp finds things are getting a little too hot for him.
